Material: High grade aluminum alloy: such as 7075 or 6061 series. This is the most common choice due to its low weight (low inertia) which is essential for fast stop-starts of the machine. Its surface is usually hard anodized to make the teeth resistant to belt wear. In older models or parts that require very high torque, stainless steel or blackened steel is used.
